CAMBIASO RISSO CHARTS NEW ROUTES
The new projects of the historic Genoese group lay out the path for the new generations.
The crisis caused by the global pandemic and the slowing down of business activities starting in March 2020 led to a stronger focus on new projects. The radical transformation caused by the health emergency in both financial and social terms served as a drive for change at Cambiaso Risso, and offered an opportunity for renewal that is needed to face new market scenarios and pass the baton to the new generations.
Three of the most significant initiatives undertaken by the Group over the last year were the development of a Dry-cargo brokerage division, the creation of the Special Risks division, and the expansion of the Yacht division.
DRY CARGO: the dry cargo brokerage division complements the Sale & Purchase one. Together, they re-establish the line of activity interrupted in the mid-80s by the amicable separation with the Cambiaso family. The development of the dry-cargo brokerage activity has been entrusted to Francesco Torelli, who can rely on his long-standing experience in important Italian and international brokerage companies. The division, currently including three people, has ambitious growth targets. DRY CARGO (CLICK TO OPEN THE SHEET)
SPECIAL RISKS: the team in charge of Special Risks and Research & Development of new products will provide technical support to all the Group’s activities. This comes at a time when there is great need for initiatives aimed at managing the era of ‘digital piracy’ and the specific needs of shipowners and charterers. Alberto Comitardi, a lawyer licensed to practice in England, Wales, and Italy, recently joined the Cambiaso Group to launch this project at the Genoa headquarters, assisted by Nicolò Iguera, naval engineer, who joined the family business about a year ago. Together they will provide assistance and advice to all Group offices. SPECIAL RISKS (CLICK TO OPEN THE SHEET)
YACHT: the luxury yacht sector, coordinated by Raffaele Bruzzo, has experienced a significant development in recent years. Today, it is expanding its services in the insurance and maritime agency business through the targeted purchase and sale of yachts measuring up to 30 metres and moorings in the marinas of the Côte d’Azur and the Tyrrhenian area. “In spite of the global health emergency”, said Mauro Iguera, “our entire insurance sector has seen a major growth in 2020 and 2021, also allowing for significant reinvestment in the development and growth of new sectors that will offer new employment opportunities in Genoa, Monaco and, in the medium term, in the other offices part of our network”.
Cambiaso Risso, with 19 offices around the world employing 283 people of 18 different nationalities, closed 2020 with € 45 million in net revenue and 2100 port calls in the Maritime Agency sector. “Our premiums exceeded $ 400 million”, commented Marco Risso, “confirming our staff’s resilience in the face of adversity. I would like to thank them personally for their commitment and dedication, which are the real driving force behind our growth”.
